Hi folks,
The fishing here in the East Cape is still providing some decent action but we are starting to see the fishing slow down with each passing week. We are nearing the end of our season here in the East Cape and I will be headed to Magdelena Bay at the end of the week to start my two month season on the Pacific side.
Here on the East Cape we continue to see a decent bite for Sail fish, Tuna and Dorado. The action for Sail fish has been wide spread from North to South and very close to shore with most of the fish being found just two or three miles from shore. The action for Tuna and Dorado has been concentrated more to the South with the fish being found from the light house to Cabo Pulmo. The bite for these fish has been up and down this past week. The forecast calls for winds from the North beginning on Wednesday and that could push those fish further to the South.
The fishing along the beach and inshore continues to be very good over all. We still have some nice Rooster fish scattered along most of the beaches as well as some good schools of Jack Crevelle. Early in the mornings we are seeing a decent bite for Sierra along a few of the beaches. These fish are here very early as we typically do not see them in any numbers for another month or so. It looks as if we will have a good season this winter for Sierra. I will be on the beach a couple of days this week with my guest and very good friend, Garrett Gill, as we hunt for a few Rooster fish. If we encounter wind from the North we have a back up plan to play some golf. Either way, fun will be had by all!
As I stated earlier, I will head to Magdalena Bay this coming weekend to start my guiding on the Pacific side. The fishing in Magdalena has been pretty good lately both off shore and in the mangroves. Offshore they have been seeing good action for Tuna, Dorado, and Wahoo. The Stripe Marlin are starting to show and that is what the area is most famous for over the next two months. On the 15th, I will be meeting my guest Donald Johnston who is coming over from England . We are going to see if we can’t get into some of that great fly fishing action Magdalena Bay is known for. I will be sure to let you all know how we do.
