Hi folks,

We had a little wind earlier in the week but today we woke up to flat calm seas and ideal fishing conditions.  I spent the day with my good friend and fellow guide from Alaska Stacy Corbin.  Stacy is the owner of Mystic waters fishing www.mysticwaters.com out of Cooper Landing on the upper Keni.  Stacy and I found some very good early morning action for Sierra with fish chasing bait in all directions.  As this was going on we had a very nice Rooster fish chase a mullet right to our feet.  This got our attention and we decided to chase Roosters.  We had some very good action with Stacy catching a very respectable fish not ten minutes into our Rooster fish hunt.  We continued to fish the rest of the day looking for these elusive fish.  As the last of the light was fading to the west we opened a cold beer and looked back on the day.  We recalled how we had put in a lot of miles as well as a lot of casts with the teaser.  We talked about the fish that came in so excited and “lit up” and how we both froze for just second in awe of this fish.  We recalled how we had a grab of the fly from a 25lb to 30lb Rooster fish and how Stacy came tight on the fish and somehow that fish never got the hook.  We also looked back in amazement on how we had a Dorado follow the teaser from the deep water right to the beach and how Stacy got the fish to eat the fly.  Dorado are not supposed to do that.  It was an amazing day.  Stacy and I will be out at it once again tomorrow.  We are hoping we can get the fish to play one more time.

 Until next time…..keep fishing.
