Hello everyone,

I just finished my last two trips over in Mag Bay and the fly fishing for Marlin was exceptional. The trip I had with Brian Crawford from Albuquerque, New Mexico and Glenn Sparrow from La Mesa, California was quite eventful. The first night of the trip we had some heavy winds and the boat was rocking and rolling in the bay as we waited to start our first fishing day. As we headed out the next day the winds had calmed and the seas although not perfectly flat were fine for fishing. Brian caught a marlin on the first day and Glenn had a few on but he did not manage to get one to the boat. Over the next four days of fishing we had a couple of afternoons that were slower than normal but we had plenty of Marlin to keep things interesting. Over all Brian and Glenn both hooked and landed more fish than ether of them thought possible. Brian and Glenn had an open day in Lopez before they caught their flight back to the states and decided to fish the bay. Brian and Glenn had plenty of action in the bay catching a variety of species.

This past week I spent fishing with Boni and Marcos Galvan(of Galvan Fly Reels) and we had a trip to remember. We headed out and from the first day we found the Marlin and they seemed to be everywhere and were very very cooperative in eating the fly. On the first day the Galvan’s caught and released a double digit number of fish. We spent the second and third day running from bird school to bird school that had feeding marlin under them and each time we got the teasers even close to the school we would have a marlin crashing them. Boni and Marcos were casting to marlin that I had teased in and were constantly hooked up. Each of them landed many fish on 20# class tippet.

I am now back home and I would like to say thank you to all my guests that participated in this years Mag Bay trips. Every week was exciting and their truly is no better place on earth like Mag Bay. I have put a sample video on my other site and I will have the full length version up shortly. If you would like to see it just click on The Reel Baja logo and it will take you to the home page where you will see the short video and you will be able to get to the long version from their as well within the next few days. I am already working on next years trips to mag bay so if you are interested please let me know and I will be happy to give you some information. Once again I would like to thank everyone who participated this year.
