Weather: The weather this past week was excellent for the first part of the week with flat seas and clear skies but on Thursday the 27th we saw the North wind rear its ugly head for what is hopefully the last time this season.  The wind continued thru Saturday and by Sunday we were back to flat seas and beautiful weather with blue bird skies and temperatures that just could not be beat.

Air temperatures: Low 66  High 90

Water temperatures: 68 to 77

Beach Fishing Report:
The fishing from the beach early in the week before the wind was fair in the very early mornings for ladyfish and a few small jacks and a sierra mixed in as well.  Most of the fishing has been to the south near Punta Colorado Hotel.  I did get a few Ladyfish in front of Rancho Leonero Hotel as I was waiting to get on the boats with my guests.  The wind in the later part of the week stirred things up quite a bit and made fishing the beach nearly impossible Friday and Saturday.  This Morning I went out in front of the house and found a couple of ladyfish and one snapper.  The bait is starting to show and the water is warming we are starting to see a few more fish as well.  I believe the beach to be on the verge of being great within the next couple of weeks.  As they say it is fishing so we will have to wait and see.

Inshore Fishing Report:
The inshore fishing this past week was excellent for my guests.  I spent three days with Matt Coppo and his girlfriend Ronnie from Beaverton, Oregon fishing the inshore and they both had fantastic fishing for species such as ladyfish, pargo, cabrilla, pompano, bonito and sierra.  I also spent time with Bo Oswald from Tualatin Oregon where he has great success on the same species.  Mickey Parker and his family spent time fishing with me in front of Rancho Leonero. Here they caught sierra, ladyfish, cabrilla, needlefish, jack crevelle and pargo.  The snack of sierra fish fingers after fishing was not too bad either.

Offshore Fishing Report:
Stripe marlin remained the main target for most of the boats going out this past week.  The marlin seem to be moving slightly but most of the concentration remains in front of La Ribera out between four and seven miles.  This is where Matt Coppo mentioned above caught his first marlin in this area during his trip.  We had several others on and to the teasers but we could only get the one to stick.  He is planning his July return.
The other species if you were lucky enough to find the porpoise was yellow fin tuna.  The boats that found the school were rewarded with good numbers of tuna.  The porpoise were found out about thirty miles and slightly to the North.  The report is that the bite happened early for the first few boats that found the school.  The captains say that once the school was found and it got on the radio and more boats appeared the tuna shut down.  It pays to get out their early.

High-light of the Week:
Watching Matt Coppo catch his first marlin for me was great.  He wanted one and we got one.  He was so excited that at the end of the day he called his friends back home from my cell phone while sitting on the hotel patio having a cerveza just to rub it in a little.  It was a picture perfect moment for matt and to be a part of that feels great.

Weather: The weather this past week was perfect to say the least.  The mornings remained on the chilly side for those who were out at first light but by the time the boats got out the temperatures were up and the mornings beautiful.  We had flat seas for most of the week with just a slight breeze in the afternoons giving us weather that was incredible.  We are starting to see a slight increase in the humidity but it is still very pleasant.

Air temperatures: Low 52  High 86

Water temperatures: 63 to 73

Beach Fishing Report:
The fishing from the beach this past week was once again tough.  Fishing the beach for a couple of days with my guests we were able to scratch out a few smaller jacks along with a few ladyfish and snapper.  Overall the beach is getting better but it is just not quite their.  I believe as soon as we see just a slight increase in the water temperatures along the beach things will improve dramatically.  With any luck that will happen very soon.

Inshore Fishing Report:
The inshore fishing this past week was very good for my guests.  Fred Wickman along with his friend Wally Auerbach from Lake Tahoe Nevada found plenty of skip jack and Bonita to bend the long sticks.  We also found plenty of ladyfish, pompano, pargo and jacks to keep them smiling all week.  Bill Boon and his son Peter also got in on the action with two days of fishing the inside where Peter picked up a Dorado of twenty five pounds.  That was a great way to break in Peter’s bran new rod.

Offshore Fishing Report:
We have a great number of Stripe Marlin here at the moment with all the boats seeing double digits most days.  This is usually a good thing but this past week they have been very tough to catch.  We had a full moon last week and we also have good numbers of squid in the water at the moment.  The speculation is that these fish are not hungry because they are full of squid.  We are seeing a few fish caught on live bait but for most of the boats the marlin just seem to come up and check out the bait and then turn away as to say thanks  but I am stuffed.  We are not seeing many fish come into the teasers making fly fishing for them difficult.

On a happier note the tuna showed up late in the week.  Most of the tuna were football size but we did see fish up to fifty pounds.  A few of the tuna were running with the porpoise but for the most part they were found out on the 90 from the hotel between twenty and twenty five miles out free swimming.  Those that trolled in this area did quite well this past week.

High-light of the Week:
The fishing is getting better and the weather is perfect.  I was able to guide some great people this past week and watching their faces light up and smile while that fly rod is bent and the reel singing. I can not help but to love this job!!

Weather: The weather this past week can only be described as almost perfect.  The reason I have to say almost is we did see some wind on 4/6 and just a breeze on 4/7.  Other than those two days this past week has been absolutely beautiful with calm seas, blue skies, and perfect temperatures.

Air temperatures: Low 52    High 86

Water temperatures: 63 to 73

Beach Fishing Report:
The fishing from the beach is starting to improve.  This past week I did find a few ladyfish and saw a few decent jacks to cast to.  The water is still quite cold and slightly green. I believe if the north winds stay calm this week the fishing from the beach will improve greatly. I am starting to see more and more activity each day I explore.

Inshore Fishing Report:
The inshore fishing this past week was fair for white bonita and some grouper.  A few nice pargo were also caught.  Again the water inside is still a little chilly and off color.  This water should start to warm and the fishing pick up with in the next couple of weeks.

Offshore Fishing Report:
This past week most of the fishing took place around the spot known as the 88.  The fishing has been very good in this area for stripe marlin, Dorado, and lots of sailfish.  It is slightly early for sail fish but they are here and anglers have been having a blast with them.  The occasional school of tuna has been found in the area as well.  Good numbers of Dorado have also been reported under the buoys off Punta Pescadero.

High-light of the Week:
This week I spent a few more days on the pacific side guiding a few different groups.  On 4/3 I fished with John Parr from Cheyenne Wyoming and  a couple of his friends where we had a very good day catching good numbers of skip jack between ten and fifteen pounds.  On 4/5 I fished with Dean Romanow from Framingham Mass. Dean had a great day.  Dean experienced his first stripe marlin as well as sierra, skip jack and to end the day we were able to sight cast to some nice sized yellowtail that came into our chum line.  Dean hooked a few of these fish and we had a blast.  We ended the day with a little fresh yellowtail sashimi.  It was a very good week.

Weather: This week we saw some very interesting weather. Most of the morning's this past week angler's woke up to large fog banks throughout the region that lasted quite some time each day and in some cases untill noon.   We have had no wind this past week making for very calm seas and beautiful day's once the fog burned off.

Air temperatures: Low 63    High 85

Water temperatures: 63 to 76

Beach Fishing Report:
The beach this past week was difficult.  We have very green water along the beaches making for some tough fishing.  My client's and I did manage to find a few ladyfish and the occasional sierra and pompano mixed in.  As far as bait we are starting to see a little more each day and with in a short time the green water should clear making for some very good fishing.

Inshore Fishing Report:
this past week the inshore was very difficult.  The green water described above extends several miles out making the inshore fishing spotty at best.  I did find a few yellowfin tuna this past week.

Offshore Fishing Report:
This wek I spent most of the time with my clients off shore.  We were an average of thirty-five miles out off of the lighthouse.  The blue water was full of life.  We were able to find dorado in the thirty pound class, along with stripe marlin and even a few sailfish.

High-light of the Week:
If you were willing to take the boat ride outside it was well worth it.
