Weather: This past week we had excellent weather. The mornings were very pleasant with clear skies and calm seas. We did see the temperatures climb again this past week making the middle of the day very warm but with the breeze we saw from the south, southeast it was manageable.
Air temperatures: Low 77 High 97
Water temperatures: 75 to 87
Beach Fishing Report: The beach this past week fished quite well. The water from the storm has cleared and we found excellent numbers of ladyfish as well as some smaller to medium roosterfish mixed in. We are seeing the bait again and this along with the clear water I think the beach fishing will start to take off again in the next couple of weeks.
Inshore Fishing Report: This past week the inshore fishing was good with some dorado found just off shore around the light house as well as some good pargo and rooster fishing out in front of La Ribera. My friend Dennis Spike told me he also found some very nice amberjack and jacks while fishing off his kayak.
Offshore Fishing Report: The fishing offshore this past week was excellent for marlin. The marlin were found anywhere from Cabo Pulmo to La Ribera. We also saw some very large dorado mixed in with the marlin. We did have some tuna off of the light house out about fifteen miles. Most of these fish were between eight and twenty pounds. If you wanted to chase really big tuna then ride was to the south for about forty miles. Their boat’s found some very nice tuna averaging around forty pounds with some fish taken over a hundred pounds.
High-light of the Week: This past week was the Bisbee East Cape Offshore Tournament. The 54 boats that entered had a very successful week. Their were 173 billfish caught (32 blues, 129 stripe marlin, 12 sailfish) with the winning fish, a blue marlin of 418 pounds being taken by Keith Jones from Chatsworth, CA. This fish won him a total of $ 152,411.00. For full results of the tournament log on to www.rancholeonero.com and click on fishing report.

Weather: This past week we had tropical storm Emilia pass close to us bringing us over eight inches of rain over a two day period. We also saw high rough seas as the storm passed. By weeks end we were back to clear skies and warm temperatures.
Air temperatures: Low 77 High 97
Water temperatures: 75 to 87
Beach Fishing Report: The beach for most of the past week was not fishable with very dirty water created by the storm.
Inshore Fishing Report: This past week the inshore for the most part was like the beach. It was not really fishable with very green and dirty water.
Offshore Fishing Report: The fishing offshore this past week was tough as well but by weeks end the water had started to clear up and some marlin and some very nice size dorado were found.
High-light of the Week: The first real rain for us in quite a long time.

Weather: This past week we saw great weather with lot’s of sunshine and a slight breeze.
Air temperatures: Low 77 High 97
Water temperatures: 75 to 87
Beach Fishing Report: The bait concentrations remain high and the beach fishing is good. Again as reported last week your fly can get lost in the bait so fish the edges of the bait balls.
Inshore Fishing Report: This past week the fishing for inshore fish was good for roosterfish in Punta Colorado and La Ribera. We also found some very big roosters way south towards Cabo. The inshore remains great for ladyfish and other small species as well.
Offshore Fishing Report: The fishing offshore this past week was a long ride to the south for tuna. Most of the boats concentrated on this bite and did quite well. The marlin bite is ok with a few fish being found. A few dorado as well.
High-light of the Week: Mark Myer for Dallas, TX wanted to catch a big rooster. I advised him to put on live bait and he did. After about ten minutes the reel was screaming with this fish at the end of it. After a fairly long battle Mark got this fish to the boat. It is one great rooster.

Weather: The weather for the first part of the week was typical for this time of year with bright sunny skies and very warm temperatures. As we moved into the end of the week we saw more clouds and overcast skies in the mornings. On Saturday 7/15/06 we woke up to pitter patter of rain. That’s right we saw a little rain Saturday morning providing us with a cool, moist, pleasant morning with a moderate breeze. By noon we were back to clearing skies and warm temperatures. On Sunday we were back to the very warm temperatures and clear skies and very flat seas.
Air temperatures: Low 76 High 97
Water temperatures: 86 to 90
Beach Fishing Report: We have great concentrations of bait along the beaches right now. This is very good in the sense it provides plenty of food for the fish we are seeing such as roosterfish, ladyfish, pargo, jacks and a few pompano. It is slightly difficult for the fly angler as we have so much bait your fly tends to get “lost” within the bait at times. This past week you could find all the bait you desire on almost any beach you decided to explore. I suggest fishing on the edges of the bait schools making your fly look like one of those bait that strayed just a little to far outside the “safe” zone. We had good success with this over the past week catching small to medium roosterfish, lot’s of ladyfish, a few jacks and a few pompano as well.
Inshore Fishing Report: This past week the fishing for inshore fish was good for roosterfish in Punta Colorado and La Ribera. My guest Charlie Ruffel from Wilton, Ct. had some good day’s catching some nice dorado between Punta Colorado and the lighthouse. We also found some smaller tuna to the south off of Cabo Pulmo. Today 7/16/06 my guest Dr. Lee Sprinkle for San Diego, CA. caught a good variety of fish that consisted of his first ever roosterfish along with jacks, pargo, and ladyfish. Overall this past week the fishing inshore was good with catches of dorado, some bigger roosterfish, bonita and a few tuna as well as some very nice pargo.
Offshore Fishing Report: The fishing offshore this past week continued to provide good action for marlin and bigger dorado. Most of these fish were found to our south off the area between Cabo Pulmpo and Los Frilies. The marlin this past week was concentrated just off shore between two and three miles with some very nice dorado mixed in as well. The tuna bite has slowed but we are still seeing some decent numbers under the many different porpoise schools in the area.
High-light of the Week: As mentioned above Dr. Sprinkle caught his first roosterfish on a fly. This was exciting to me because he has fished salt water for many years and for all the typical salt water species one might think of such as tarpon, bonefish, permit, and to this day he has 86 sailfish on fly. I have fished with Dr. Sprinkle in the past and the roosterfish have always seemed to elude us. As everything fell into place today with fish crashing bait all around us and Dr. Sprinkle making a perfect cast the excitement level was at an all time high. As the fish inhaled the fly and peeled line it was great. It was even more special to see the smile on doc’s face as we landed, thanked and released the fish and afterward exchanges high fives.

Weather: The weather this past week continued to be typical for this time of year. We continue to see warm and humid weather with some afternoon breezes from the South, Southeast. The evenings and early mornings continue to be quite pleasurable as temperatures are perfect during these times.
Air temperatures: Low 76 High 98
Water temperatures: 86 to 90
Beach Fishing Report: The fishing from the beach this past week was slightly slower for roosterfish but we saw an increased number of jacks. We also saw pompano, pargo, ladyfish and I was even bitten off by a sierra this past week. The bait population continues to be strong but it is moving daily so be prepared to walk until you find it. Once you find the bait just fish in and around the bait balls and the fish will eventually show themselves.
Inshore Fishing Report: This past week the fishing for inshore fish was about like the beach. Slightly slower for bigger roosterfish but we had plenty of smaller sized roosters and jacks to keep us busy. As always for this time of year the ladyfish were not hard to find.
Offshore Fishing Report: The fishing offshore this past week has changed slightly with the tuna moving outside so far that few boats are taking the ride to chase them. The boats that have decided to make the long run are coming back with mixed results. Some boats are coming back with good numbers of tuna between twenty and sixty pounds while other boats are getting skunked. I have heard of some smaller tuna being caught at the tuna hole off Cabo Pulmo. Most of the boats this past week concentrated on the marlin (both stripe and blue) that have been located just two to three miles off shore from Rancho Leonero to the lighthouse. The fish have been feeding and biting pretty consistently with each hotel boat averaging two to three marlin per day. We have seen a few nice bull dorado mixed in with the marlin as well.
High-light of the Week: A week of sunrises like the one below along with the fishing. Make you want to come to Baja?????
