Weather: The weather this past week continued to be typical for this time of year. The days are hot with the evenings warm but pleasurable. We continued to see the humidity as well. For those that were willing to endure the heat the fishing rewarded them.
Air temperatures: Low 77 High 97
Water temperatures: 75 to 86
Beach Fishing Report: The fishing from the beach this past week was very good for one of my clients. Jerry Darby from Minneapolis Minnesota had a day that he will not soon forget. After catching as many ladyfish as he could handle in the morning we found a huge school of bait. As we begun to fish in and around the bait and after picking up a few more ladyfish the roosters showed up. With a school of roosterfish working the bait, slashing in and out of the tightly packed bait school for most of the afternoon Jerry was able to fool, hook, and land three roosterfish. We had so many other follows and short strikes and missed fish that we lost count. During this rooster frenzy Jerry had an encounter where he had two roosterfish following his fly and as if his day had not been good enough they parted and from underneath them came a twenty pound jack that inhaled his fly and after a great fight jerry landed and then released the fish. As a whole the beach has been good with lots of bait near shore and good schools of roosterfish and ladyfish as well. This past week we seemed to find the morning hours better for ladyfish and the afternoon hours better for roosterfish. As we know it could happen any time of the day so if you are willing to put in the effort you will be rewarded.
Inshore Fishing Report: This past week the fishing for inshore fish continued to be very good with roosterfish, ladyfish, triggerfish, dorado, and pompano being found. Jerry Darby (mentioned above) also had a day out of the boat nether one of us will soon forget. Jerry started this day off with a nice dorado and then continued on to hook six roosterfish and one very nice (see photo) pompano. My other guests, Haskell Stricklen, Ron Foster, David Price, and Gray Thornton all from Dallas Texas also had a great three days of fishing the inshore. Each one of them caught multiple roosterfish, triggerfish, ladyfish, and even a few jacks. As you can see the fishing from the inshore this past week was very good.
Offshore Fishing Report: The fishing offshore this past week was good. Tuna seem to be the main catch as the marlin bite has slowed and the dorado seem to be scattered. The group mentioned above from Dallas had great luck fishing for tuna this past week. Between the four of them we hooked lots of tuna with one ten weight being sacrificed to a yellow fin just over fifty pounds. We have seen a few blue marlin as well with Jerry (yes the same Jerry as above) hooking, fighting but unfortunately not landing two blues on his last day fishing.
High-light of the Week: The fishing has to take center stage the past week.

Weather: The weather this past week was normal for this time of year. In a word it was HOT!!! We saw bright sunny skies with an afternoon breeze that helped with the heat but for the most part it was very warm this past week and humid as well.
Air temperatures: Low 74 High 95
Water temperatures: 74 to 85
Beach Fishing Report: The fishing from the beach this past week continued to be steady with the early mornings being best for small roosters and ladyfish. During the mid day hours this past week we did see a fair number of good sized roosters that we were able to cast to. The shots were very spread out but if you were willing to put in the time and do a little hunting you were able to get some good shots. .
Inshore Fishing Report: This past week the fishing for big rooster fish continued to be very good. Most of the roosters have been in the La Ribera area. The bite has been good early mornings and tapering off as mid morning arrives. We also had the normal ladyfish mixed in as well.
Offshore Fishing Report: Stripe marlin continue to be cooperative for the off shore anglers. The tuna are starting to show but have bee off shore about twenty five miles. We have seen a good number of sailfish as well. As of today blue marlin is the talk of the town with one boat out of Hotel Punta Colorado hooking and fighting a blue marlin for five hours. The fish was estimated to be between four hundred and fifty to five hundred pounds.
High-light of the Week: My guest Beth Barker form Denver Colorado caught and released her first stripe marlin on a fly rod while fishing with me this past week. Beth has fished with me for the past few years and I have never seen her so excited. I was honored to be a part of it.

Weather: The weather this past week was for the most part excellent. We did see two days of strong wind from the South during the middle of the week but these winds did not affect the fishing and were welcomed by most anglers that wanted a little break from the heat. The early mornings and evenings were perfect with very pleasant temperatures and some great fishing as well.
Air temperatures: Low 74 High 95
Water temperatures: 74 to 85
Beach Fishing Report: The fishing from the beach this past week was very good for ladyfish, small jacks, pompano and rooster fish in the small to medium class. The big roosterfish are here but most of them seemed to be paired up this past week and in the spawning mode. Fishing from the beach this past week my guests had luck on almost any beach we fished. We did however seem to find that this past week the fishing in the mornings and evenings were best. We found fish during mid day but the bite was much slower.
Inshore Fishing Report: This past week the fishing for big roosterfish and Mexican lookdown was great. Unlike from the beach we did find some quality roosterfish just offshore that were done spawning and were willing to eat. My guests Robert Stevens and his wife Sonja spent three days fishing the inshore with me from a panga and they had great luck on roosterfish, pompano, ladyfish and jacks.
Offshore Fishing Report: The fishing offshore for yellow fin tuna this past week was excellent off of Cabo Pulmo. Most of the fish were between five and twenty pounds with some very nice bonita mixed in as well. The marlin bite was fairly slow during the first part of the week but by weeks end it was once again in full swing. On Saturday 6/17/06 I know of one boat that had a total of eight released for the day. We are seeing a few blues as well along with some sailfish. The dorado fishing continues to be good just off shore between the lighthouse and La Ribera. Most of the fish are averaging between five and ten pounds. A few bigger fish have been mixed in as well.
High-light of the Week: My guest Robert Stevens who I mentioned above had a great morning on 6/17/06 where he caught two roosterfish over twenty pounds along with dorado, ladyfish, Mexican lookdown, pargo and jacks all on the fly. The great thing about the fishing down here is you never know. For us on this day all this took place before ten in the morning. We then decided to go and look for marlin where we raised a few but unfortunately we did not get any hook up’s. Robert said that it was ok with him we did not get a marlin because he already had a day he will never forget.
