Weather: This past week the North winds returned once more. The wind started mid week and finally let up today Sunday the 1st. The wind caused the water to cool off making the water outside slightly green and with the pounding of the waves along our beaches the water inside was off color as well. We have seen lots of sunshine this past week and today as we returned to flat seas and no wind it feels like spring again. Looking at the forecast it looks as if this Easter week is going to be a very nice time to be here in Baja.
Air temperatures: Low 64 High 89
Water temperatures: Low 67 High 76
Beach Fishing Report: Early in the week before the wind kicked up we continued to see the small roosterfish that have been abundant on our beaches over the past few weeks. We also have some schools of bigger roosterfish (fifteen to twenty pounds) showing as well. Schools of good sized jack crevalle are in the area as well. The jack crevalle seem to be a little on the spooky side but if you get a fly in front of them they will take a look at it. We are still seeing the occasional sierra mackerel and we are starting to catch a few more ladyfish along the beach.
Inshore Fishing Report: This past week the inshore fishing before we saw the wind continued to be good for some of those bigger roosterfish and jacks that you just could not get to form the beach. I also know of a few pargo that were caught this past week and also heard of a few amberjack that were found.
Offshore Fishing Report: Before the wind the marlin bite continued to be very good for those who were willing to take the long trip south. We also continue to see some football sized tuna under the schools of porpoise that are in the area. The dorado that have been in the area were not as concentrated this past week and only a very few were caught.
High-light of the Week: Today (Sunday April 1st) my guest Ron Guerra and I were finally able to get out and fish after waiting out the wind over the last couple of days. We were out in front of the lighthouse looking for marlin when we looked over and saw another boat that was very near us hooked up with a marlin. As we watched the other boat release their marlin and get back underway our captain got a call on the radio that the marlin the other boat had just released had a catch and release tag in it. It is pretty rare that we see a tagged marlin in these waters but we do see them. This particular marlin according to the other captain had been caught tagged and released in Florida!!!

Weather: This past week the beautiful weather continued. We did not see any North wind this past week. The lack of wind made for great fishing conditions. The air temperatures are heating up and we are starting to feel the humidity. It looks like it might be an early spring.
Air temperatures: Low 61 High 90
Water temperatures: Low 66 High 73
Beach Fishing Report: The fishing along the beach was excellent for small rooster fish and even a few small jacks mixed in. Our guest Gary Chandler from Tacoma Washington fished with my guide Lance Peterson from the beach on Wednesday the 14th as I was in Cabo guiding other clients and they had a bang up day. Lance and Gary report they had a great day catching over a dozen small rooster fish and a couple small jacks. Lance also reported they fished for some nice croaker as well.
Inshore Fishing Report: Inshore fishing this past week was very good for Rob Morton. Rob and I fished out of a panga on Thursday the 15th where we encountered some very nice schools of bigger rooster fish. Rob hooked and landed two very nice rooster fish both fish between fifteen and twenty pounds. Rob and I were able to get many other shots at other roosters as well having two very big rooster fish try and eat the fly but as they took a swipe at the fly the fish just plain missed leaving Rob and I saying to each other did you see that!!
Offshore Fishing Report: This past week the offshore fishing remained consistent for medium sized dorado along with marlin. The marlin have bee concentrated in the area of Cabo Pulmo. The dorado have been in the same area. I did see a boat as well this week flying a number of Tuna flags but I did not hear where the captain found them.
High-light of the Week: If the weather continues to cooperate and the fishing remains on the track it is on now we should see some very good fishing in the up coming weeks.

Weather: This past week we saw beautiful weather with no wind and clam seas. Hopefully we have seen the last of the North winds but do not count on it.
Air temperatures: Low 57 High 82
Water temperatures: Low 66 High 71
Beach Fishing Report: The fishing along the beach remains very good for small rooster fish. These small roosters seem to be just about everywhere. Just today (Sunday the 11th) I spent the day guiding my guest Rob Morton on the beach here in the East Cape and Rob had an excellent day. Rob caught a number of small roosters in the morning and as we were wrapping up the morning session we spotted a school of nice sized roosters. As I cast the teaser and started to crank the teaser back toward us the entire school turned and followed the teaser tight to the beach. Rob cast his fly and on his first strip Rob hung a nice rooster of about twenty pounds. After a short fight the fish came undone and darted away to join the school that was now headed for deeper water. Spring is on its way and along with spring come some big roosterfish and it looks as if spring might just come early this year.
Inshore Fishing Report: Inshore fishing this past week was good for sierra very early in the morning. A nice pargo bite was reported this past week in the deeper water out in front of La Ribera as well.
Offshore Fishing Report: This past week we have had a good Dorado bite between the lighthouse and La Ribera out about six to eight miles. It is reported that the dorado caught were all nice size fish. I do know of one Dorado taken on the fly this week and it was around thirty pounds. We also have some marlin in the area and the boats that are specifically targeting marlin are reporting between one and two hook ups a day on average.
High-light of the Week: This past week I spent most of the week fishing with different guests that were staying in Cabo. These guests included Joe Coakley and his friends, along with Walt Gradek and his wife Pat. The inshore fishing remains good in the area off Cabo San Lucas. We found plenty of sierras to keep us busy along with a few pompano and even a roosterfish or two.
