Weather: The weather this past week has been excellent to say the least. We had some of the flattest seas I have seen in quite some time. Along with the lack of wind came the temperatures and humidity that mad you realize summer is just about here. The evenings are quite pleasant and the sun rises have been spectacular.
Air temperatures: Low 74 High 93
Water temperatures: 68 to 79
Beach Fishing Report: The fishing from the beach this past week picked up greatly with very good amounts of bait being found along the beaches. The roosters are here in very good numbers and the lady fish are just about everywhere. To off the beach my client from New York caught roosterfish, lady fish, snapper, and pompano. Not a bad way to spend an afternoon.
Inshore Fishing Report: This past week the fishing for roosterfish was some of the best I have seen this year. I was on a panga for most of the week and the fishing for rooster along with species such as ladyfish, pompano, skipjack and marlin was excellent.
Offshore Fishing Report: The fishing offshore for stripe marlin this past week was very good with most of the boats that were fishing conventional getting between two and as many as six per boat. On the fly this past week we were able to hook six but we were only to get half that many to the boat. The dorado bite has picked up but most of the fish are on the smaller side averaging between five and ten pounds. The tuna bite has turned on in front of Cabo Pulmo. The boats did quite well this past week with the fish averaging around fifteen pounds.
High-light of the Week: My gust Brian Crawford from Albuquerque, NM fished with me for five days this past week. When he arrived he told me his dream was to catch a stripe marlin on the fly. It just so happens that the first day out we found some marlin willing to eat the fly and to watch him cast to, hook, fight, and land his first marlin was wonderful. When you have someone tell you that for five years they have been dreaming catching a marlin on the fly and to be a part of making that dream come true it is wonderful. Brian also caught tuna, ladyfish, pompano, roosterfish, and jacks.

Weather: The weather this past week was very interesting to say the least. We started the week out with beautiful weather and flat seas. Beginning on Wednesday May 24th we saw a strong wind out of the North. This was a surprise to everyone as this type of wind is hardly ever seen this time of year. The North wind continued thru Thursday the 25th. On Friday the 26th we saw very strong winds from the South. The wind continued to blow strong from the South finally laying down the morning of Sunday the 28th. Other than the crazy winds we have had very pleasant weather with moderate temperatures during the day and very pleasant temperatures during the nights.
Air temperatures: Low 74 High 93
Water temperatures: 68 to 79
Beach Fishing Report: The fishing from the beach this past week was difficult due to the winds from both the North and South stirring up the water and making the water near shore the color of your morning coffee. There is good news to report however and that is as the winds settled and the water cleared the rooster fishing picked up. These fish are being spotted, and on occasion caught along the beaches from Leonero to La Ribera. We have seen some jacks mixed in as well.
Inshore Fishing Report: If you were looking for roosterfish then being in a boat and just off the beach was the place to be. The fish seemed to be hanging just outside the casting range of most anglers standing on the beach. During the later part of the week we saw a good number of fish that were schooled up and were eager to come to the teasers and chum giving my anglers a chance to cast to those elusive roosters. The other species that we saw this past week inshore included pargo, pompano, ladyfish, and jacks.
Offshore Fishing Report: The fishing offshore continues to be good for stripe marlin with the occasional blue being caught as well. A good number of sailfish continue to be mixed in with the marlin. The dorado bite slowed down this past week. The fish that were caught remained on the large side. We do have a few yellow fin tuna starting to show as well. Today a couple of boats did well finding the tuna about thirty miles out.
High-light of the Week: The inshore fishing was good this past week for my guests that include Scott Tufto from Minnetonka, MN along with Jake Mcktrick from Denver, CO. and Cary Badger from Kirkland, WA. They all had great luck fishing the inshore with me from pangas for all the species listed above.
