Weather: This past week we continued to see the North winds for most of the week. We did have one day of overcast skies with even a few sprinkles on Thursday December 7th. Other than that we have had clear and cool nights with the temperatures warming up nicely during the day.
Air temperatures: Low 61 High 79
Water temperatures: Low 72 High 78
Beach Fishing Report: If fishing from the beach this past week you needed to get out early to avoid the North winds. If you did that you had a good shot a getting some sierra. Sierra are happening in the early mornings (just before sun up) and lasting until the winds pick up around ten in the morning. We do also have a few lady fish and a few small rooster fish in the area as well but the majority is sierra. Remember to use a long shank hooks or a small piece of wire to avoid getting cut off by the sharp teeth of the sierra. If you use a long shank hook you will get more strikes than if you use wire but you will ultimately loose more flies. Remember sierra love flies with lots of flash so if tying your own a little extra flash won’t hurt.
Inshore Fishing Report: We are still seeing a few tuna and dorado in the Cabo Pulmo area. The boats are using chunked squid for bait as the sardines have migrated out of the area. Some of the boats have reported good amberjack fishing in front of La Ribera also using squid for bait.
Offshore Fishing Report: It is very late in the season but we are still seeing a few bill fish in the area. The hotel boats are still reporting some action for stripe marlin and the occasional blue. The marlins were found over an area that extends from Cabo Pulmo North to just south of Ceralvo Island.
High-light of the Week: This past week I spent a day in Cabo San Lucas fishing with my client Mike Boyd form Wichita Kansas and his wife. We have fished in the East Cape before and had excellent fishing. Mike was in Cabo and wanted to give it a shot. We found a good number of tuna that were running with a school of porpoise about sixteen miles off the light house. It was a great day with calm seas warm temperatures and some great company.

Weather: This past week we saw the return of the North winds. They blew staring early in the week and remained throughout the entire week. The early mornings were cool with the day time highs still in the lower 80’.
Air temperatures: Low 60 High 82
Water temperatures: Low 74 High 83
Beach Fishing Report: With the return of the winds and the migration of the sardine out of the area you needed to get out early. If you did you had a chance to catch sierra, some small roosters and ladyfish. Most of the action took place before sunrise until the wind came up mid morning. The water is stirred and off color but the fish are still there.
Inshore Fishing Report: Inshore this past week was difficult with the winds but I did hear of a few dorado being caught around the light house.
Offshore Fishing Report: This past week the fishing for marlin and sailfish remained pretty active given it is this late in the year. The fish are strung out from Cabo Pulmo North to the 88. We still have some blue marlin in the area as the largest blue marlin caught this year out of Rancho Leonero hotel was taken this past week.
High-light of the Week: This past week I spent a day in Cabo San Lucas fishing with my client Walter Gradek. We had some slow fishing catching some dorado but he will be back in February.

Weather: The weather this past week remained fabulous. We had perfect temperatures and the winds from the North were non existent giving us flat and calm seas.
Air temperatures: Low 69 High 85
Water temperatures: Low 79 High 83
Beach Fishing Report: The beach fishing this past week remained good for the smaller species. We still small rooster fish up to five pounds in the area along with plenty of ladyfish to keep a rod bent. We also have some other species mixed in such as jacks and pompano and even a few snapper all are fun on an eight weight.
Inshore Fishing Report: Inshore this past week remained good for those fish that were just out of reach from the beach. I did hear of some small tuna just in front of La Ribera as well. We have also seen the return of the Humbolt Squid. Most of the boats are getting one or two each morning to use for chunk bait for the tuna and dorado in the area. The Sardina we use for bait are still here but they are starting to thin out so the arrival of the squid to use as bait is welcomed.
Offshore Fishing Report: This past week the fishing for marlin and sailfish remained to the north just south of the 88. This fishing has slowed but the boats continue to report one or two per day. I do know of a blue marlin caught this past week as well. As far as the dorado we are still seeing a few in the area. Most of the dorado in the area are on the smaller side between five and fifteen pounds.
High-light of the Week: I hope everyone had a very happy Thanksgiving. It was quite pleasant here in Baja. I want to wish all my friends, guests, and family in the states a happy and safe holiday season. I would also like to mention that the marlin fishing on the finger bank out of Cabo is wide open. Some of the fish from further North have arrived on the finger and they are active. This should last for the next few weeks so if anyone wants to catch a marlin on the fly the time is now. I plan on being on the bank this coming week. Feel free to give me a call for the latest up to date reports.

Weather: The weather this past week was quite nice. The North winds remained calm for most of the week. We had flat seas and bright sunny days.
Air temperatures: Low 69 High 85
Water temperatures: Low 81 High 83
Beach Fishing Report: The beach fishing this past week remained good for small roosterfish and jacks along with ladyfish and a few pargo. The water remains stirred from the winds but the bait and the fish are still in the area.
Inshore Fishing Report: Again the inshore fishing was good from a panga for those fish you just could not quite reach from the beach. We have had some smaller dorado in the area as well.
Offshore Fishing Report: This week the off shore fishing remains fair with a marlin bite to the North at the 88 and a tuna bite to the south near Cabo Pulmo.
High-light of the Week: First thing I want to say is I apologize for not getting a report up for last week. Last week I spent the week fishing in Mag Bay with Bonifacio Galvan and his son Marcos Galvan of Galvan Fly Reels along with John Alverez of Fly Fishing Encounters. We had an excellent trip. We were looking for Marlin to test a new reel that Galvin may be introducing and boy did this new reel get a workout. We found lot’s of marlin along with all the big dorado you could ask for. At times the dorado were so thick they were beating the marlin to the teasers and when you hooked one you would have another twenty or so swimming around the boat and pouncing on any fly that was thrown at them. I can not count how many time we were all four hooked up on both marlin and dorado. I will be headed back to Mag Bay at the end of the month with another group. I have to admit I am looking forward to going back over.

Weather: The weather this past week was quite nice. We saw perfect weather early in the week but by mid week and into the weekend we saw the return of the North wind. Over all the wind aside the weather was beautiful.
Air temperatures: Low 69 High 85
Water temperatures: Low 78 High 83
Beach Fishing Report: The beach fishing this past week was good if you were up early and beat the North winds that kicked up mid week. We had good action for sierra, ladyfish, and small rooster fish, and jacks. The area known as “the sticks” located just South of Rancho Leonero was the place to be.
Inshore Fishing Report: Again the inshore fishing was very good during the early past of the week. I spent a couple of days fishing from a panga with my guests Ed Kipperman and his friend Charlie during the first part of the week and with my current guests Jerry Plantenberg and his friend Wayne. Both groups had spectacular days fishing inshore for small rooster fish, sierra, jacks, and ladyfish. My other guest Daniel Adams fishing with one of my other guides Lance Peterson had a couple good days hooking some nice mid size dorado.
Offshore Fishing Report: This week the off shore fishing was fair. We found a few yellow fin tuna at the tuna hole near the slides. We still have enough dorado in the area to keep it interesting. We also have some skipjack as well. The marlin fishing has been fair to the north with each boat getting one or two.
High-light of the Week: This past week while fishing with Jerry and Wayne we encountered a very big school of Pacific Barracuda. Neither myself or my captain Juan from the Hotel Buena Vista have ever seen them here before and he has been fishing here 25 years. This just goes to show you never know what you will encounter when you go fishing.
