Weather: The weather this past week was quite nice.  We saw perfect weather early in the week but by mid week and into the weekend we saw the return of the North wind.  Over all the wind aside the weather was beautiful.

Air temperatures: Low 69  High 85

Water temperatures:
Low 78  High 83

Beach Fishing Report:
The beach fishing this past week was good if you were up early and beat the North winds that kicked up mid week.  We had good action for sierra, ladyfish, and small rooster fish, and jacks.  The area known as “the sticks” located just South of Rancho Leonero was the place to be.

Inshore Fishing Report:
Again the inshore fishing was very good during the early past of the week.  I spent a couple of days fishing from a panga with my guests Ed Kipperman and his friend Charlie during the first part of the week and with my current guests Jerry Plantenberg and his friend Wayne.  Both groups had spectacular days fishing inshore for small rooster fish, sierra, jacks, and ladyfish.  My other guest Daniel Adams fishing with one of my other guides Lance Peterson had a couple good days hooking some nice mid size dorado.

Offshore Fishing Report:
This week the off shore fishing was fair.  We found a few yellow fin tuna at the tuna hole near the slides.  We still have enough dorado in the area to keep it interesting.  We also have some skipjack as well.  The marlin fishing has been fair to the north with each boat getting one or two.

High-light of the Week:
This past week while fishing with Jerry and Wayne we encountered a very big school of Pacific Barracuda.  Neither myself or my captain Juan from the Hotel Buena Vista have ever seen them here before and he has been fishing here 25 years.  This just goes to show you never know what you will encounter when you go fishing.

Weather: The weather this past week the weather was mixed.  We saw a little of everything.  We began the week with a day of rain from hurricane / tropical storm Paul.  Once Paul cleared the area we had bright blue skies with warm and humid temperatures.  By mid week the North winds were back bringing us three days of strong wind making fishing very tough from both beach and boat.  As I write this report the weather is very calm and the ocean quite pleasant.  It is that time of year where we can start to see some of the North wind so we will have to wait and see what this upcoming week will bring.

Air temperatures: Low 70  High 85

Water temperatures:
Low 81  High 83

Beach Fishing Report:
The beach fishing this past week was fair very early in the week for ladyfish, sierra, and a few small roosterfish.  By mid week we had very strong North winds making the water the color of chocolate and the beach was basically not fishable due to the strong wind s and off colored water.

Inshore Fishing Report:
Again the inshore fishing was very good during the early past of the week.  I spent a couple of days fishing from a panga with a friend and we had very good luck on ladyfish, small to medium sized roosterfish and jacks and even a few pompano mixed in.  Like everyone else we were shut down as soon as the north winds started.

Offshore Fishing Report:
This week the off shore fishing remained very difficult.  The tuna bite continues to be out of Cabo San Lucas but between Paul and the North wind not many boats made the long run.  By weeks end the boats were reporting a very few dorado close to shore and the occasional marlin.

High-light of the Week:
This past week between Paul and the North winds fishing was very difficult.  I believe we will see better fishing as the water clarity starts to return to normal.

Weather: The weather this past week we saw great temperatures along with a couple days of North wind.  Overall the weather was quite pleasant.  As I write this report we are watching hurricane Paul that is headed in our direction.  IF we see any activity from Paul it will be in the early part of next week.  It looks at this point that we will see something from the storm but for those of us here we hope it is just a little rain as we have had all the hurricane activity any of us that live here want to see for the year.

Air temperatures: Low 71  High 89

Water temperatures:
Low 81  High 85

Beach Fishing Report:
The beach fishing this past week was slightly off with the north wind stirring up the water.  The fishing was fair for ladyfish and some small roosters along with a few sierras.  If you could find the bait the fishing was not too bad.  The water is off color from Rancho Leonero South to Hotel Punta Colorado.  Once one gets past Punta Colorado hotel the water becomes clear once again.

Inshore Fishing Report:
I fished inshore with a friend of mine that is visiting me from Arizona and we have had excellent fishing for ladyfish, small rooster fish, jacks, and pompano.  We spent a couple of days fishing inshore and we found most of our fish in the area of Hotel Buena Vista.  We will be out their tomorrow to see if we cant get one more day in before the storm.

Offshore Fishing Report:
This week the off shore fishing was difficult.  Most of the fishing is taking place down south off of Gordo Bank out side of Cabo San Lucas.  The boats that have been making the long trip have been rewarded with a very good tuna bite with fish averaging twenty pounds.  The marlin bite in the area has slowed down with a few fish still being caught on bait in front of La Ribera and some decent action in front of Cabo Pulmo with a couple of blue marlin caught as the week ended.  The dorado bit has also slowed with the best bite coming from in front of the light house.

High-light of the Week:
This past week I have had a friend visiting me from Arizona and we have had some great inshore fishing in the area of Hotel Buena Vista.  We also spent three days fishing out of Cabo for tuna and dorado and had an excellent three days as we found plenty of tuna on the sea of Cortez side and after fishing for two days pulling on tuna we decided to fish the Pacific side and we found plenty of dorado and a sailfish to pull some backing from the reel.  It is always nice to spend time with a friend and go fishing.

Weather: The weather this past week continued to be excellent.  We did however see our first North wind of the season.  Although it only lasted a day it reminds us of  what is to come later in the season.

Air temperatures: Low 71  High 89

Water temperatures:
Low 84  High 86

Beach Fishing Report:
The beach fishing is very good when you find the bait.  We have had lots of bait just south of rancho leonero hotel.  In this area we have been catching lots of ladies, jacks, small roosters, and sierra.  I do not know if I have ever seen sierra in water this warm but we have lots of sierra in at the moment.

Inshore Fishing Report:
The inshore fishing is just as good as the beach fishing.  We have been fishing to the fish in the same area as described above to the fish we can not reach from the beach.

Offshore Fishing Report:
This week the off shore fishing was slightly tough.  The marlin and sailfish bite remained good but most of the fish were being caught on bait down deep.  The tuna fishing was very difficult with the bite moving down south in the area of San Jose.  We do have some tuna off of Cabo Pulmo but they were finicky this past week and not very many were caught but the ones that were weighed in at about forty pounds.  We still have some dorado around as well.  Most of the boats that targeted them found a few.  We also had a few wahoo in the area.

High-light of the Week:
This past week I had wonderful guests Ben Sheppard and his father in law Ed.  They fished with me for three days and they had an excellent three days of fishing.  We primarily fished inshore since it was so good and they caught, roosterfish, jacks, sierra, ladyfish, pompano and bonito.  Ben owned a metal arts studio and wanted to catch a marlin so he could duplicate one in his studio so we got him a nice stripe marlin but this one was not on a fly it was conventional but Ben very happy to catch his first marlin.

Weather: The weather this past week in a word has been wonderful.  We have seen the temperatures come down slightly although is is still slightly warm for this late in the summer.  We have had clear skies and wonderful evenings.  We have seen the occasional thunderstorm build over the mountains late in the afternoons bringing some rain to the mountains and even a little for us next to the beach.  This has kept the area very green and beautiful.  I have to say October is one of my favorite months here in Baja.

Air temperatures: Low 74  High 90

Water temperatures:
Low 86  High 90

Beach Fishing Report:
The beach fishing coutinues to improve as the water clears.  The water is still off color in some areas from some of the arroyo's that are still running and the afternoon rains in the mountains are not helping.  This past week the water clairity improved and the bait continues to be abundant.  This past week the fishing for ladyfish continued to be strong with a few jacks and even a few roosterfish mixed in.  I believe the fishing from the beach will continue to improve and we will see some great fall fishing from the beach.  We have even seen a few sierra starting to show already.

Inshore Fishing Report:
We still have some debris in the water and the dorado fishing has continues to be  fair. The tuna bite has slowed down slightly but continues to be productive.  I have heard a report of some amberjack and some bonita biting out infront of La Ribera as well.

Offshore Fishing Report:
Offshore the marlin bite has picked back up and this past week it was very good to our north near Ceralvo.  We are also finding tuna offshore.  Some of the tuna have been with porpoise and others have been free swiming.  The captains report a few bigger dorado starting to show on the outside as well as a pretty good number of wahoo.  October is usually a very good month for a chance at all the major species we have here in East Cape.  I am looking forward to it.

High-light of the Week:
The temperatures are starting to cool off, the water is still warm, and all the species of fish are here.  Their is no better place to be than Baja in October.
