Over this past week we had a turn in the weather with rain and overcast conditions  making things less than ideal for fishing.

East Cape : The wind has been blowing, but there are some days that we do catch a break in the weather. On non windy days, anglers can experience some of the best winter fishing in the area,  with fantastic beach and inshore fishing. The other day, I went scouting on the ATV and saw some small schools of bait that had been herded by small jacks and roosters just off the beach. Once you find the bait inshore, you can have a blast from the beach with jacks, roosters and sierra on a 7-8 weight. Offshore, there are still some scattered dorado and marlin around.

Cabo and San Jose:  In the Cabo area we are seeing a fair amount of roosterfish and jacks in the inshore fishery.  Also, there are reports that Yellowtail are coming into the area.

As we approach the new year, I will be off the water and getting ready for the fly fishing shows  that I will be attending. The first show we will be at is in Denver, January 4-6 then Sacramento, CA 9-13.  More dates to follow. If you are in the area, please come by the booth and introduce yourself.

Tight lines,

Jeff.
