Had a little wind from the North for a couple days this last week which was strange for this time of year.

The beach has been OK.  A few fish are around and the crowds were out in full force but it’s not overwhelming. Overall there is a great mix of species right now. Small roosters in the marina, plus Jacks, and snappers as well.

Outside we are seeing great dorado & marlin fishing as well. The pompano fishing has been nothing but fantastic this last week. Bigger roosters are further out but very picky. When we do get one to eat its a ton of fun.

Lots of tuna 30 & 40 miles out with porpoise. Close to home, we are finding tuna off the lighthouse fishing sinking lines and finding a 45 pounders in the mix.

Fishing is only going to get better as the sardines show up and the wind drops off as we hit the beaches sight fishing roosters and jacks. Grande rooster season is here. Every week we will see more & more fish on the beaches.  If anyone has questions please feel free to give us a call and we will be happy to discuss availability.

Tight lines,

Jeff

Spring Fishing is Heating Up.

Hello everyone,

This past week we have seen some pretty good fishing on the Pacific side out of Cabo San Lucas. We have had a little bit of wind on some days but overall the sea conditions have been great. We have been seeing good numbers of roosterfish along with some jacks. The Sierra bite is starting to wind down as the water is warming slightly but when you find the schools they have been responsive. We continue to see a strong marlin bite out of Cabo San Lucas. This marlin action has been very steady the past couple of weeks. It shows no signs of slowing down so it should be another good week for marlin on the fly.

Over in the East Cape the wind has reared its ugly head once again. It has been blowing hard from the North most of the week. It is forecast to settle down over the next couple of days. Once it does we will be able to get back out there and see what’s happening. Before the wind we had good action close to shore for dorado and a few rooster fish. We also were seeing great action for big skip jack tuna and some yellowfin tuna. The Marlin bite in the East Cape was steady but after this wind, we will need to see if it’s still on.

Looking ahead the wind here in the East Cape will be a factor in fishing this week. As I mentioned it is forecast to settle down in a couple days but this time of year that can change. We will just have to wait and see.

On the Pacific side, we should continue to see very good fishing. I will be fishing out of Cabo for a week or so starting tomorrow. I will be sure to report how the action is.

Until next time get out and go fishing.

Week of July 10th

It’s been a busy week here in Baja. The beach fishing is fair. We have fish around but you need to be patient. We didn’t see a thing the last two days and today we saw a bunch today. Overall the fish are here but you need to be patient for your shots.

Offshore is wide open with tuna and marlin. The tuna is a perfect fly rod fish with fantastic action when you hook up. They are all football size and perfect for someone looking to catch one on the fly, or if you want your heart rate to pick up. They have been eating small squid and red crabs. Most of them have been south off of Cabo Pulmo but are pretty much everywhere.

We are seeing the occasional Dorado with the majority of them being found to the North. The marlin have been spread out all over with a good number of smaller blue marlin (about 250#’s) 25 miles to our North. If anyone has any questions please give us a call. Happy to discuss the area.

Tight lines,

Jeff
