Last week we had a storm brewing off the coast. Overall the storm only brought in a bit of rain and no damage due to the wind. Over the last week, the water has been clearing up nicely. The dorado bite that was wide open a few weeks ago has tapered off but there are still some nice fish around. In the next few weeks, we expect the dorado bite to be solid.

On the outside:  a few boats have been coming in with marlin flags plus the tuna bite is strong offshore. However, it’s a long ride out to find them, but when you do the action is exciting.

On the inside: Roosters are cruising the beaches and several grande fish have been sen this week. We had a few exciting chases but the fish are spooky. In the mix is big jacks inshore. We saw several in the 50lb range this last week. Several dates are open July-August if anyone is considering coming down now is the time to book. We are out this week with clients so look out for some great pics coming soon.

Had a little wind from the North for a couple days this last week which was strange for this time of year.

The beach has been OK.  A few fish are around and the crowds were out in full force but it’s not overwhelming. Overall there is a great mix of species right now. Small roosters in the marina, plus Jacks, and snappers as well.

Outside we are seeing great dorado & marlin fishing as well. The pompano fishing has been nothing but fantastic this last week. Bigger roosters are further out but very picky. When we do get one to eat its a ton of fun.

Lots of tuna 30 & 40 miles out with porpoise. Close to home, we are finding tuna off the lighthouse fishing sinking lines and finding a 45 pounders in the mix.

Fishing is only going to get better as the sardines show up and the wind drops off as we hit the beaches sight fishing roosters and jacks. Grande rooster season is here. Every week we will see more & more fish on the beaches.  If anyone has questions please feel free to give us a call and we will be happy to discuss availability.

Tight lines,

Jeff

East Cape- Fishing is On Point!

Week of September 5th

The storm that hit last week is long gone with no new storms on the horizon.  On the east cape side, the town is up and running with all facilities open as well as all hotels. Everything is normal here in the east cape.  Cabo got hit hard and is still cleaning up but doing well overall. Even though Cabo is in full clean up mode that does not mean it’s No reason not to come. The fishing on the east cape is fantastic!

The beach fishing is so, so and hit or miss at the moment. It all depends on where you are overall and if you put in some time you will find some fish off the beach. Water clarity is getting better daily. The best spots to hit now are where the arroyos are running into the beaches. There is lots of bait and fishing is great but the water is off color, so it’s all blind fishing. We are catching all kinds of species including jacks, roosters, small Bonita, snapper and needle fish. All great fun on light rods.

LOT’S OF SARDINES AROUND!! Great bait for inshore and off shore expeditions which are all producing incredible fishing. Offshore the Dorado fishing is awesome!!  Lots of fish in and around the debris from the storm. Also, lots of tuna and skip jack out there in the mix. All perfect fly rod size and tons of fun. If anyone has any interest in coming down to get into so great fishing I would recommend coming down ASAP. The fishing is extremely solid and we have some dates available for guiding. Things in Mag Bay are heating up!! Fishing there this year is going to be awesome as the water cools down and our season starts in early November in Mag Bay. I still have a few dates open for Mag Bay so let me know if there are any questions I can answer.

Tight lines,

Jeff
